Day 01: Arrival (Delhi)
On arrival at the Indira Gandhi international in Delhi,
you will be met by a Taj Hub representative who will escort
you to the hotel. Relax for the remaining part of the day and
brace yourself for an exciting Himalayan Experience tour.
Day 02: Old & New Delhi
On day 2 of the Himalayan Experience tour, enjoy a full day
of sightseeing in Delhi. Right after breakfast, you will be
taken on a tour around Old Delhi. Visit some interesting places
like the Red Fort, Jama Masjid, Rajghat before enjoying a cycle
rickshaw ride along the lanes of Chandni Chowk. Later, proceed
to visit the Birla Temple, Parliament House, India Gate, President's
House and the Qutub Minar. Also enjoy a welcome dinner at an
Indian restaurant in Delhi before return to the hotel for an
overnight stay.
Day 03: New Delhi - Chandigarh
As part of the Himalayan Experience tour, transfer to the
New Delhi railway station to board the super fast Shatabdi Express
to Chandigarh. This air-conditioned chair car is also the fastest
train in India. On arrival in Chandigarh, our representative
will help check into your hotel. After resting awhile, embark
on an afternoon sightseeing tour of Chandigarh. Visit the Nek
Chand rock garden, artificial lake, museum, Local Parliament
of Punjab & Haryana and so on. Return for an overnight stay
at your hotel in Chandigarh.
Day 04: Chandigarh - Mandi (1200 MSL)
Drive to Mandi, a beautiful town located at a distance of
215 km away. Check in at a hotel on arrival and rest awhile.
Later in the afternoon, drive to the Rivalsar lake. Surrounded
by a Buddhist Monastery, a Hindu temple & a Sikh temple,
the lake is a sight worth beholding. It is also believed that
the lake was created by Arjuna, one of the five Pandava brothers
in the Mahabharata. Return to Mandi for an overnight stay.
Day 05: Mandi - Manali
Embark on a 105 km long drive to Manali. Visit the beautiful
valley of Kallu & Naggar enroute. Complete with old Pagoda
style temples & a grand palace, the valley is sure to take
your breath away. Check in at a hotel in Manali before setting
out on an afternoon sightseeing tour around Manali. Visit the
hot spring, Vashishtha temple, the 5000 years old Hadimba Mata
temple and the Buddhist Monastery. Stay overnight stay at your
hotel in Manali.
Day 06: Manali - Jespa
On day 6 of the Himalayan Experience tour, set out on a
7-hour jeep journey to Jespa. You will first stop at the Rohtang
Pass, situated at a height of 3978 MSL. In the olden days many
people of the Kullu & Lahul district lost their lives while
trying to cross the pass during winter. Continue with your drive
towards Tandi, a place where two the Himalayan rivers Chandra
& Bagga meet. From this point the rivers are known by one
name - Chenab. Drive through Keylong, the headquarters of the
Lahul & Sipiti district before reaching Jespa. Check in
at the camp situated on the banks of river Chandra. Rest awhile
before setting out to visit some of the villages of Jespa and
the Buddhist monastery. Return to your tent for a sumptuous
dinner and overnight stay.
Day 07: Jespa - Sarchu
Right after breakfast, you will drive to Sarchu, located
a distance of 120 km away from Jespa. You will first stop at
Dharcha and then at Baralacha La. Proceed with your journey
towards Sarchu. On arrival, check in at a super deluxe tent.
In the afternoon, take a tour around Sarchu and treat yourself
to some grand views of the peaks and mountains. Return for an
overnight stay at your deluxe tent.
Day 08: Sarchu - Leh
As part of the Himalayan Experience tour, set out for Leh
via the La Chungla pass, which is situated at a height of 5000
meters above sea level. You will also stop at Pang, which is
situated at a height of 4950 meters above sea level. From Pang,
you will cover a distance of 57 km before reaching the Tang-Lang-La
pass, which is at a height of 5378 meters above sea level. You
will also drive through many picturesque villages before arriving
at Leh. Check in at a hotel on arrival for an overnight stay.
Day 09: Leh
Leh is situated at a height of 3300 meters above sea level.
Therefore it is necessary to spend a relaxed day getting acclimatized
to the weather conditions. Enjoy a stroll to the Chengespa village
in the evening. Return for an overnight stay at your hotel in
Leh.
Day 10: Leh
Enjoy a scrumptious breakfast before setting out on a visit
to the Stok Palace Museum. A part of the palace serves as the
residence of the Queen of Ladakh, while the other part has been
converted into a museum. The palace also offers breathtaking
views of the Barron Mountains. The Indus River flowing by also
adds up as a wonderful sight to behold. You will also stop at
a SOS camp for Tibetan children before driving back to your
hotel. In the afternoon, you will have ample time to visit the
colorful bazaars of Leh and the fort of Ladakh. Overnight stay
would be at your hotel in Leh.
Day 11: Leh - Shey - Thiksey - Hemis
- Leh
On day 11 of the Himalayan Experience tour with Taj Hub,
drive to Shey (the summer palace of royal family) after breakfast.
Moreover, the residence of his holiness the Dalai Lama is situated
right in front of the palace. You will later drive to Thiksey
where you can see the biggest Buddha statue. Finally, you will
visit the most revered and richest monastery of Ladakh, The
Hemis. Overnight stay would be at the hotel in Leh.
Day 12: Leh - Uletopko
Leave for Uletopko, which is at a distance of 120 km away
after breakfast. Stop to visit the Monastery at Rizong enroute.
Later, drive towards your campsite in Uletopko. Equipped with
a host of modern day amenities, the camp promises a comfortable
stay to you and your friends. Overnight stay and dinner would
be at the camp.
Day 13: Uletopko - Leh
Enjoy breakfast at the camp before proceeding towards Leh.
Enroute, stop at the Alchi Monastery that houses many beautiful
murals that date back to the 11th century. You will also stop
at the Pyang Monastery and the Spituk Monastery before arriving
in Leh. Check into a hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 14: Leh - Khardung La - Nubra
As part of the Himalayan Experience tour, leave for Nubra
via Khardung La. The highest motorable pass in the world, Khadungla
La is situated at an altitude of 5800 meters above sea level.
Continue with your drive towards Numbra and check into a hotel
on arrival. Overnight stay and dinner would be at your hotel
in Nubra.
Day 15: Nubra - Leh
After breakfast, visit one of the oldest monasteries in
greater Himalayas at Dixit. Drive back to Leh later in the morning.
Check in at a hotel on arrival.
Day 16: Leh - Delhi
On the final day of the Himalayan Experience tour, drive
to the Leh airport to board a flight to New Delhi. On arrival,
enjoy a full day of shopping and exploring before enjoying a
farewell dinner organized by Taj Hub. Thereafter, you will be
driven to the international airport in Delhi, thus signaling
the end of the Himalayan Experience tour.
